Erin Long-Robbins

Erin Long-Robbins began her dance training with the Northeast Regional honor

company, Allegheny Ballet in Altoona, Pennsylvania. There she was taught by world

renowned teachers who included: Cherie Noble, Richard Cook, Melinda Howe, Deborah

Anthony, Jeffry Gribler, Barbara Sandonato, Paul Gibson and Bettijane Sills. She

performed many lead roles in full length ballets, works created for her by guest

choreographers from across the country, and Balanchine works. She also studied at

Central Pennsylvania Youth Ballet, on full scholarship at the Rock School of the

Pennsylvania Ballet and Saratoga Summer Program in New York.

Miss Erin was offered professional contracts with Joffrey Ballet, BalletMet and Dayton

Ballet. She graduated summa cum laude from Wright State University with a Bachelor of

Fine Arts (BFA) in Dance and a Minor in Psychology where she was taught by Jon

Rodriguez, Suzanne Walker and Patricia White. She was asked by the department to

teach her fellow dance majors on a weekly basis during her senior year when she was still

a student at the university.

Miss Erin has taught at Antioch College, Sinclair Community College, Dayton Ballet

School, Gem City Ballet and Regional Dance America’s Northeast Festival held in

Dayton.

She has worked at Wright State University for 25 years. She is currently an

Instructor Professor at Wright State University where she teaches Ballet for the Dance

and Musical Theater majors, Pointe and Dance History. She has also been the ballet

instructor for the celebrated professional Modern dance company, Dayton Contemporary

Dance Company.

Beginning in 2012, Miss Erin became a co-owner of The South Dayton School of Dance

in Centerville, OH (founded by Elizabeth Karns in 1986). She is now sole owner. She is

also Artistic Director of the award winning, non-profit dance company, South Dayton

Dance Theatre, serving on its Board of Directors since 2007.

Miss Erin has served on the board of directors of Regional Dance America/Northeast

since 2016 and she is the co-chair of their Membership Committee.

Miss Erin guest taught for many years at Santa Cruz Ballet Theatre in California. She

has also guest taught classes for Pennsylvania Regional Ballet in Harrisburg and

Allegheny Ballet School.

She has had a successful choreographic career with her works being commissioned by

pre-professional companies, college dance programs and have been performed at

Regional Dance America’s festivals. Dayton Philharmonic commissioned her to create

her own version of Peter and the Wolf which was performed with the symphony in

conjunction with Gem City Ballet. She has experience staging full length ballets as well.
