Adult Classes
The South Dayton School of Dance is pleased to offer classes that are specifically designed for Adults. SDSD understands that our adult dancers are drawn to dance for several reasons and we are so pleased to be able to offer 6 different class options for our Adult Students. At SDSD, we highly value our Adult students and structure all of our classes to fit the needs of each dancer. Please see the classes offered below as well as details about tuition and registration.
Class Offerings
Advanced Adult Ballet
Monday 7:00-8:30
This class is specifically designed for adult student who have a significant amount of experience in Ballet. This class offers a full barre as well as centre, across the floor and allegro exercises. This class is taught by Michelle McElveen weekly on Monday evenings from 7:00 to 8:30pm.
Adult Advanced Tap
Thursday 7:45-8:45
Adult Advanced Tap is offered weekly on Thursday evenings from 7:45 to 8:45 pm and is taught by Beth Wright, formerly of Rhythm In Shoes. This class is designed for adult students with a significant amount of experience in tap dance and explore complex rhythm, movement and styles.
Adult Modern/Jazz
Tuesday 8:00-9:00
Adult Modern/Jazz is a combination class where students of all experience levels can explore different modern and jazz dance movement and styles. Adult Modern/Jazz is offered on Tuesday evenings from 8
8:00-9:00 and is taught by Sean Ferguson.
Adult Beginning Ballet
Tuesday 7:00-8:00
Adult Beginning Ballet is a class specifically designed for adult students with little to no ballet experience. This class would also be suitable for dancers who may need a refresher or want to review the basics. This class offers a full bare as well as select centre and across the floor combinations. This class is taught weekly by Sean Ferguson on Tuesday evenings from 7:00 to 8:00 pm.
Adult Beginning Tap
Thursday 6:45-7:45
This class is specifically designed for students with little to no previous tap experience. This class offers individualized instruction on the basic building blocks of tap dance. Adult Beginning Tap is offered on Thursday Evenings from 6:45 to 7:45pm, and is taught by Beth Wright.
Gold Tappers (55+)
Thursday 11:00-12:00
Gold Tap is a beginner to intermediate tap class offered to our adult students with a suggested age of 55+. This class is a great way to stay in shape, make friends, and explore the rhythm and styles of tap dance. All skill levels are welcome! This class is offerred weekly on Thursday mornings from 11:00 am to 12:00 noon, and is taught by Carol Jean Heller, formerly of the Dayton Ballet School.
Adult Classes
Tuition & Pricing
SDSD offers two options for Tuition/Pricing options for our adult students, as we know that each student has different needs. We offer traditional registration with a monthly tuition payment as well as a class punch card option. Read more about each option below.

To enroll this way select the class you wish to participate in. This will enroll you in the monthly tuition that is posted to your account on the 15th and due on the 1st of each month.
To enroll this way please select ONLY the "Adult Class Punch Card" class in the class selection screen and then email us and let us know which card amount you would like and we will manually add it to your account.
Traditional Registration
Traditional Registration allows students to enroll in a class for the duration of our 32-week school year from mid-August through late May. Classes missed are able to be made up in other adult classes within 2 weeks of absence.

90 minute Class: $75

Class Punch Card
Class Punch Cards offer our adult students more flexibility when it comes to attendance. We will punch your card each time you come for class and when your card runs out, you can purchase another. This way you only pay for the classes you can make it to!

Dress Code
We understand that our adult students come from all walks of life and all participate in our classes for different reasons. To accommodate all of our students, there is not a specific or enforced dress code for our adult classes.

We do recommend that you wear comfortable clothing that is tight to the body such as a leotard and tights or leggings and a t-shirt. We also recommend that you invest in the correct dance shoes for the class you are taking. Please see the link below for our suggested dancewear and shoes.
